AI Watercolor Release part 2 | Bible Journaling Stamps | Night Bench

Night Bench

Welcome to another fabulous watercolor release from Art Impressions.  This release includes stamps that can be used for Bible Journaling or for other projects.  I, myself, do not Bible Journal but I am sure I can find plenty of projects to use all of these stamps.  I wanted to create a night scene using the Grafx  Art Masking liquid to create the stars.  I created this Night Bench project this week to show case the Light to my Path stamp set.

Watercolor Details

I started off by inking up the Light to my path stamp with Sepia.  I added some African Violet to the lantern, light post and stones to create a gray color.  Using my paintbrush, I pulled the color out of the lines on the bench remembering to leave a highlight where the lantern would shine light down.  I added some Mocha to the bench where the shadows would be.

Next, I pulled the color out of the lantern to the right of the light as these would be the darkest shadows.  I moved on to the stones below the bench.  I pulled the color from around the stones.  I added some African Violet beneath the bench to create a shadow.

I added some color to the lantern by mixing African Violet and Sepia onto my watercolor palette and brushing it onto the lantern.  Once that was dry I added some Brilliant Yellow to the panes of the lantern.  Using plenty of water, I created a wash of yellow to brush around the lantern and onto the bench.  I gradually built up the color.

I stamped the small grass underneath the bench, along the sides of the legs and sporadically around the stones.  I used the vine from the Bible Foliage set inked in Olive Green, stamped it to the left and right of the bench.  I added the blooms from the Bible Flowers set inked with African Violet to the vines.  Next I used the lilies from the Bible Flowers set inked with Olive Green and Violet.  I added water to soften all of the lines.

To protect the background from the sky colors, I added dots of the Grafx Art Masking liquid to emulate stars.  Once those dried, I built the background color up starting with a watered-down Violet.  Next, I added Eggplant to give a more intense color.  Then, I added in some African Violet.  To finish up I added some areas of Black.  I don’t generally use Black but in this instance, it gave some really nice dimension to the night sky.  I let each layer dry before I came in with another layer of color.

Once everything was dry, I rubbed off the liquid mask to reveal the stars.  As always, I signed and dated the piece.

Creating the Card

I ran the watercolor piece through my Big Shot using the new Rounded Rectangle stitched dies.  I created a matte by running a piece of Gina K Designs Edible Eggplant card stock.  I glued these together using Gina K Designs connect glue and mounted them on a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ note card.

All of the new released stamps, dies and alphabets are AWESOME!  I can’t wait to start in on my Christmas Cards using these new sets.  You can do so much with all of them.
