Gimme that

I am so excited that you are joining us for another Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend.  For this weekends project, I created this sweet Flowering Bird Bath.  I used the Bird Bath stamp as a pot to hold my flowers and foliage.

I was inspired by a bird bath I saw in my neighbors yard that had flowers and foliage spilling out of it.  This project is so quick and easy.

Flowering Bird Bath project Details

First, I stamped the bird bath on my watercolor paper using Sepia.  I pulled the color out of the lines.  I didn’t ink up the entire top so my foliage would spill out over the sides.

Using the vine from the Foliage Set 1 inked up with Olive green, I stamped it several times around the top of the bird bath.  I used my brush and water to soften the lines.

Next I inked up a flower from the Flower Set 3 inked with Olive Green and Orange and stamped it several times in the middle of the foliage.  I didn’t ink the bottom of the stamp so they would be shorter and fit better into the foliage.

I then took another flower from the same set, inked with Olive Green and Magenta, and stamped it on both sides of the Orange flowers.  I softened the blooms with a damp brush.

To anchor the bird bath, I used the small grass from the Foliage Set 1 inked with Olive Green.  I walked it out from the middle to the edges.  I used my brush to pull the color up and out.

I stamped the small flower from the Flower set 2 inked with Olive Green and violet on either side of the bird bath.  I softened the blooms with my brush. To finish off the project, I signed and dated it.

Creating the card

I used the layered plaid cover die from Altenew to cut a piece of white cardstock.  I adhered it to a piece of Mango cardstock from Gina K Designs.  I cut my watercolor piece with the single stitched oval from Gina K Designs and mounted it on a piece of pink cardstock cut with the spellbinders oval die.  I mounted this in the middle of the card.

This is a clean and simple card that doesn’t take anytime to create.  I hope you will join me and my team mates this weekend.  Make sure to upload your projects to Instagram using the #AIWatercolor.  We can’t wait to see what you create!
