Gimme that

Welcome Back to Watercolor Weekend!  Sometimes it is hard to think of unique ways to create interesting paintings.  I have been obsessed with using shape dies to create frames for my flowers.  In order to add some interest, I added the live laugh love words on the sides of the frames.  These rectangles remind me of postage stamps.  You can count on me making more of these.

Live Laugh Love Watercolor Card Details

Step 1 – the foliage & flowers

To begin, I lightly traced the inside of a small rectangle die for placement.

Live Laugh Love

Using the leaves from the Foliage Set 2 inked up with Pine Green, I stamped it into the first box.  I added the flowers with the small flowers stamp from the Mini Flowers Set in Violet.

For the second box, I used the climbing vine from the Foliage Set 3 in Olive Green.  I added flowers from the Flowers Set 1 using Iris Purple.

For the third box, I used the vines from the Foliage set 3 inked up with Pine Green.  I added flowers from the Flower Set 3 inked with Prussian Blue.

I softened the lines with my brush and water.

Step 2 – the rectangles

First, I erased the pencil lines and used the Brilliant Yellow fine point to trace around the small rectangle for each flower.  Using my brush, I softened the lines and pulled a small amount of color into the center of the rectangle.  Live Laugh Love

Step 3 – the background

To create a little more interest and depth, I added some Manganese in the background around the rectangles.

Step 4 – finishing touches

I used my Brownish Grey to write “live laugh love” onto the left side of the frames.

To create the card, I die cut it out with my largest stitched rectangle.  I glued it to the card base made from Gina K Designs Wild Dandelion card stock and then adhered it to a card base.

I hope you will stop on over to the Art Impressions Blog so you can check out my awesome team mates Tricia Kennedy and Dot Iris to see what they came up with this weekend!  As always we want to see what you do with your Art Impressions stamps, tag us on Instagram with #AIWatercolor!

An inspired design. Love this! I made a retirement card for a co-worker following your oval frame tutorial from a week or so ago. Loving this frame series. Thanks so much!

I love this, at first I thought you had made the images separately then attached each one on to the card. I love how you did the design.
