Gimme that

Hi everyone, welcome to another Watercolor Weekend with Art Impressions!  This weekend I created a Rustic Cabin (well maybe garage/shed).  For inspiration, I used my own small garage (or shed LOL) that is located on my property in Vermont.  It is set back in the woods.

Rustic Cabin Card Details

Step 1 – The Cabin

I started with a small structure from the Rustic Cabins set.  I removed the chimney and windows before I stamped it onto my watercolor paper.  I pulled the color out of the lines.  I added the doors and additional color with Sepia, Mocha and Steel Blue from the watercolor palette.  I also added English Red to the door (because it is actually red IRL).

Step 2 – The Trees

I masked off the structure to protect it.  I inked several of the branches in Sepia and stamped them around the cabin.  I used a small amount of water to create a small trunk on one of the trees.  Using the leaf bush (not sure what else to call it) I inked up a small amount of the stamp in Olive Green and stamped it around several of the branches.  I then inked up the vine in Olive Green and added it to the branches.  I used my brush and water to soften the lines.

Step 3 – The Cobblestones & Grasses

I inked the cobblestones in Sepia and African Violet.  I used my stamp positioner to put them exactly where I wanted them.  I pulled the color from around the cobblestones.  I then stamped the small grasses in Olive Green around the cabin and in between the cobblestones.  Using my palette, I added some additional color to the cobblestones and in front of the cabin.

Step 4 – Pine Tree Accent

To add a little bit of interest, I used one of the tree toppers inked with Pine Green to create a pine tree on the side of the painting.  Finally, I signed and dated the painting.

Step 5 – The Card

To create the card I cut down the watercolor piece to 4 x 5 1/4.  I added it to a card base made from Gina K Design Fresh Asparagus card stock.
