Hi there and welcome to another Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend!! Lately I have really been into creating watercolor projects that have a frame of some kind in the design. This Sweet Friend Frame uses only 3 stamps and 3 markers.
You can use a shaped die or really anything you have around the house to use as a template. This project can also be used for any occasion, just stamp the sentiment you need. Don’t have an occasion yet, leave it blank until you need one, then you will have a card ready to go at a moment’s notice.
Sweet Friend Frame Card Details
Step 1 – Setup
Start with a piece of watercolor paper cut to 4 x 4. I traced a square using my stitched square die (you can use any shape die or object to do this step) and a pencil. Make sure you trace it lightly, you will be erasing these lines. This will serve as a guideline for placement of your flowers.
Step 2 – The flowers and foliage
I started with my small leaves. Ink them up with Olive Green.
Stamp the leaves around the frame. I stamped each of the leaves several times. You will notice I started this frame with a different design in mind, but I guess I got lost when I stamped the flowers. I still like how it came out.
I used the left and right flowers to create a corner on each side. Add water to the flowers and foliage.
Step 3 – The Frame
I replaced the square die (using the pencil lines as a guide). I used the large part of the marker, I feel like the fine point is too thin.
Using your brush, pull the color out of the lines into the center of the square. If you need additional color, use your palette.
Step 4 – Finishing Touches
As usual, sign and date. I mounted my piece onto a piece of Gina K Designs Bubblegum card stock cut to 4 1/4 x 8 1/2. I used my MISTI to stamp my sentiment from Gina K Designs using VersaFine black ink.
